Flyer of a hitchhiking contest from the Polar Circle, Finland, to Amsterdam, setup by my brother Michiel van Waning. The goal was to arrive back in Amsterdam without spending any money, this way actively having to ask for help, not only for transportation, but also for food and shelter. The idea behind this concept, is that this is the best way to establish a real connection with the locals, and it worked out really well, as was proven by the many times we received positive feedback from the people who helped us along the way. The flyer was an important asset during the trip, since it gave us an 'official' status when asking for help, helping to gain trust more quickly.
